BBBofC light middleweight champion Brian Rose takes on Max Maxwell tonight

We try and cover the world of boxing on this blog but we can't help a bit of British bias. Let's have a look at the best British action tonight - Brian Rose vs Max Maxwell at Winter Gardens, Blackpool. Brian Rose, 27, was last seen pulling off a shock title win against Prince Arron. The Blackpool-born fighter impressed boxing fans with his performance in a fight he was expected to lose. The question now is how far can Brian Rose go?

Well he isn't going anywhere soon. Understandably perhaps, Rose has decided to milk his BBBofC title for all it is worth, and that starts tonight against Max Maxwell. Maxwell, 32, has a 15-10-3 record, with only three of his wins coming by knockout. He doesn't represent much of a technical or a power threat, and should be thought of as an easy title defence...

...That is, until you check out Maxwell's history. He may not have much of a record, but tucked away in 2010, there is a gem. Max Maxwell beat Brian Rose with a sixth round TKO in May of that year. This makes him a live underdog, because unless Rose has improved massively in the twenty months since they fought, there is still a chance Maxwell could catch him.

I still don't rate him and if Maxwell reads this he'll probably try and find my address, but my opinion is backed up by stats. Let's take a look at them.
