Enzo survives first round knock down to win a decision

Last night one of the most bizarre Cruiserweight title fights of all time took place at Civic Hall, Wolverhampton, between ex world champion Enzo Maccarinelli and then British champion Shane McPhilbin. Maccarinelli was always known to have a shaky chin, but now we know for fact that his punch resistance has completely gone.

Enzo was knocked down heavily in the first round with 47 seconds left and it looked he was ready to be stopped, but luckily for him somehow the timekeeper had miss counted and the round ended 47 seconds early.

Enzo was then dropped in the third round, but he wasn't badly hurt. To his credit he went on to win the remaining rounds and did enough win a decision. But the question is 'What if the first round didn't end 47 seconds early' and in my opinion Enzo would have been knocked out for sixth time in his career.

Just looking back to when Enzo was in his prime, he would have destroyed McPhilbin in a round, and for him to go life and death with McPhilbin, must mean it's time to call it quits.

What do you think? Should Enzo call it a day? What would have happened if the first round didn't end early?
