Carl Froch believes his boxing legacy will be better than Joe Calzaghe's - but what to you think?

Carl Froch
has signed on to fight Lucian Bute in May, but that hasn't stopped him looking to retirement. The super middleweight would probably be best served focusing on fighting one of the best in his division, but he has recently shown concern over his legacy. Froch, who lost to Andre Ward in December, believes his boxing legacy is better than Joe Calzaghe's. The Nottingham-born fighter told the Daily Star:
"Joe was a fantastic fighter and retired undefeated but if you want to be critical, go down his record and have a look who he fought and when he fought them."

“Boxing is all about timing. He beat Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr but it is all about when you fight them and people know."

“He had a tough fight against Robin Reid. It was a split decision but he lost that fight. I could say I lost to Kessler but if that fight had been in Nottingham I’d have won."
Before we go any further, let's forget all emotion and take a look at the cold, hard stats:

Carl Froch vs Joe Calzaghe Head to Head Stats
                                       Carl Froch                 Joe Calzaghe
Record                            28-2-0 (20KO)         46-0-0 (32KO)
Biggest Wins                  Jermain Taylor            Jeff Lacy
                                        Jean Pascal                 Bernard Hopkins
                                        Glen Johnson              Mikkel Kessler
                                        Arthur Abraham          Roy Jones Jr

On the face of it, Calzaghe wins, no question. Eighteen more wins, no losses and B-Hop, Jones Jr and Kessler on his mantelpiece. But as well all know, nothing in boxing is straightforward. Now, the question over whether Carl Froch will have a better legacy than Joe Calzaghe is pure opinion, so I'm not going to waste time trying to convince you. Instead, here is what boxing fans had to say when I asked the question on Twitter.

@dannyhamill - "Laughable really, dunno what else to say aboiut it"

@insyncchl - "totally deluded. Lost to Kessler , schooled by Ward (should have lost to Dirrell) Brave warrior and always good value though"

@NezRees69 - "Let's be honest he wouldn't lace up@RealJoeCalzaghe gloves or boots"

@1henryw - " both fort the very best. Calzaghe came out unscathed, froch with two losses. Says it all..."

This isn't me being one-sided or trying to sway your opinion, but I didn't get a single response to say that Froch is right. If you believe that he is, and that he has a claim to having a better legacy than Joe Calzaghe, then here is your chance to speak.
