Dmitry Pirog will make the third defence of his title against Nobuhiro Ishida

Nobuhiro Ishida can consider himself a very lucky man. When Ishida lost to Paul Williams earlier this year, it looked like he had used his final chance of trying to get a world title fight. But apparently getting completely out-boxed for twelve round warrants a world title fight against one of the best boxers in the Middleweight division. WBO middleweight World Champion Dmitry Pirog will make his third defence of his title against Nobuhiro Ishida on the 1st of May, at the Sport Complex arena, in Moscow, Russia.

Even though Ishida doesn't deserve a world title shot I don't think he was the first choice opponent for Pirog. Darren Barker was heavily rumoured to be Pirog's opponent next May, but due to an injury he had to rule himself out of the fight.

Another fight that has been talked about for Pirog is a fight with Daniel Geale. But that fight looks like it will take place in August, leaving Pirog the chance to take a stay busy fight in-between now and then.

I expect Pirog to quite easily out-box Ishida, don't be surprised if Pirog even gets the stoppage win, he has the power to do so.

Pirog certainly beat a credible opponent in Daniel Jacobs to win the WBO title, but should a world champion be defending his belt against opponents who lost their previous fight?
