Felix Sturm defends his WBA Super World Middleweight title against Sebastian Zbik

This Friday Felix Sturm will hope to successfully defend his Middleweight title against fellow countryman Sebastian Zbik.

Sturm is in need of a good win, in his two last fights with Matthew Macklin and Martin Murray most spectators thought he was lucky to come away with a win and draw. If Sturm were to beat Zbik it would be a good victory for him as Zbik proved he is a good fighter last year when he fought Chavez Jr to a close majority decision loss.

Fans and bookmakers seems to think Sturm will win this fight, but I think Zbik has a real chance of causing the upset. Zbik threw a large volume of punches and largely out-worked Chavez Jr for the first part of their fight. Sturm was out-worked by Macklin for most of their fight, if Zbik can set a fast pace without losing steam in the late rounds then I think he win a decision over Felix Sturm.

We could see Sturm retire very soon, he looks more and more past his prime with each passing fight. If he loses this Friday then he could retire, but if he wins then he will have to fight his mandatory Gennday Golovkin who would have an excellent chance of sending Sturm into retirement via stoppage.

The fight will be live on BoxNation for UK fight fans, Denis Boystov vs Dominick Guinn will be on the under-card.

Is Felix Sturm's time at championship level coming to an end?
