This weekend was meant to be a lot busier for boxing. Before a hellstorm of controversy thundered into the sky, we were all looking forward to seeing Amir Khan fight Lamont Peterson in one of the biggest fights of the year. I won't rehash what happened here, you can read about it in one of our other posts. Let's just say that fight got cancelled.

David Price vs Sam Sexton

Luckily, there are other fights going on this weekend to make up for it. First, there's some heavyweight action when David Price fights Sam Sexton at Aintree. Price has been building up hype in the British boxing community, and his stunning first round knockout of John McDermott did a lot to help that. Sam Sexton and David Price used to fight on the same Olympic team, so there is a lot of friendly rivalry involved in this match.

Hopefully Sexton will give Price a tough test. I don't say that just for the fans watching either; Price needs a fight to go the distance. It would be great experience for him to have to go the full twelve rounds,  and if it gives those watching a spectacle, then that's even better.

Where can I watch it? David Price vs Sam Sexton is on Sky Sports 1 Saturday 19th May with coverage starting at 10.30pm.

Mikkel Kessler vs Allan Green

Next up, we have Mikkel Kessler vs Allan Green. Kessler, an ex-world champion and still a world-level fighter, is looking to get back on the belt hunt, and beating Green will take him closer to another title fight. Kessler has always been one of the best super middleweight boxers, but his fight with Green marks his debut in the light heavyweight division.

Green (31-3-0 21KOs) is still trying to recover from his straight losses to Glen Johnson and Andre Ward in 2010. Since then he's gone 2-0, beating Craig Gandy and Sebastien Demers, but Kessler will be his toughest fight in a while. Read our preview and prediction here.
