After several weeks of rumours and negotiations, it doesn't look like Kevin Mitchell will fight Ricky Burns for Burns's WBO Lightweight title. A fight between Mitchell and Burns needs to happen. It would be a fight between two of Britain's best boxers, in the same division with a world title on the line.

Upton Park (West Ham F.C stadium) is the venue where Dereck Chisora will fight David Haye, and because Kevin Mitchell is from Dagenham, many people thought that Mitchell Vs Burns would be added to the Haye/Chisora bill.

So, to the boxing fans who were looking forward to the announcement of Kevin Mitchell Vs Ricky Burns, Kevin Mitchell did make an announcement today, but not the one fans were looking forward to. Kevin Mitchell Tweeted:

"Burns didn't seem to want the fight at upton park on July 14th..."

One of Mitchell's followers then asked him why he didn't want the fight to happen in Scotland and Mitchell replied:

"I'll come up whenever they want me to...U lot don't but tickets and that a fact"

So to the disappointment of many boxing fans who were looking forward to this fight, it doesn't look like the fight will happen in July, but you never know, maybe it will happen later on in the year.
