Nathan Cleverly was supposed to defend his WBO belt against Robin Krasniqi last weekend, but an illness stopped the Welshman from fighting. The Krasniqi bout wasn't at the top of most fans to-watch lists, and it seems that Cleverly wants to give his supporters something bigger for his next bout.

Cleverly watched the recent Bernard Hopkins - Chad Dawson fight and he was disappointed with the result. You might know that Cleverly has wanted to fight Bernard Hopkins for a long time because he dreams of unifying two world belts, and presumably thinks Hopkins is the easier fight to make and the fighter he's most likely to beat.

Chad Dawson's majority decision put an end to that, so now Cleverly has set his sights on fighting the new world champion. He told Wales Online:

"Fighters like Dawson and Hopkins are the best in the division, but they are the type of guys you set your goals on."

A Cleverly - Dawson fight would certainly get the Welshman’s fans excited, but there is another fight he could also make. Last October Cleverly beat Tony Bellew by majority decision in one of the best British fights of the year. A Cleverly - Bellew rematch would be a great fight for the champion and go some way to satisfying his fans.
