Sugar vs Cinnamon on the Floyd Mayweather/Miguel Cotto under-card

The big fight people are most looking forward to this weekend is the Floyd Mayweather/Miguel Cotto fight. But a fight which has the potential to be very entertaining is the WBC Light Middleweight world title fight between Saul Alvarez (39-0 29 KO) and Shane Mosley (46-7 39KO).

The reason why I like this fight is because both fighters have over a 70% knock-out ratio, meaning that a knock-out is almost guaranteed to happen. Most people think Alvarez is the man to get the knock-out, but with Mosley's speed, power and experience he always has a chance, especially early on in the fight.

I pick Mosley to win by knock-out because Alvarez is a slow-starter and isn't that difficult to hit. But if Mosley looks as bad in this fight as he did in the Pacquiao fight then my prediction could be very wrong. But I stand by my choice, I think Mosley will pull off the upset just like he did when he knocked-out Antonio Margarito back in 2009.

However one of the best trainers in the game today, Emanuel Steward doesn't like Mosley's chances. Whilst being interviewed by 'On The Ropes Boxing Radio' Steward was asked "Whether he feels people are underestimating Shane Mosley going into his fight with Saul Alvarez given the fact Mosley is a 7 to 1 underdog"

Steward replied:

“Nope! I mean firstly I just can’t see Shane doing too much in that fight. I just don’t see it. I’m surprised that the fight was made. I’ll be very honest with you. It’s just that one guy is heading north at such a fast pace and the other guy is heading south at a pretty decent pace. I think Saul Alvarez is just a very fabulous fighter, and I think whoever he fights would have a tough challenge with him, and I just don’t know if Shane has that physical strength and that high intensity and spirit that he once had earlier in his career. Just to say he’s going to hold him off with experience, I don’t think that’s going to be enough to me. But it’s going to be interesting to see what happens in the fight. I’m just very surprised that the fight was even made.”

Emanuel Steward doesn't like this fight, but can Mosley pull off another big upset?
