Victor Ortiz needs to get past Josesito Lopez in order to fight Saul Alvarez

Tonight, 'Vicious' Victor Ortiz will step into the ring for the first time since his controversial lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr, last September. Ortiz was scheduled to fight Andre Berto in a rematch, but Berto failed a drugs test, so Josesito Lopez stepped in as a late replacement.

This fight with Ortiz is Lopez's first fight in the Welterweight division. So not only has Lopez stepped in at short notice, he also moved up in weight to make the fight happen - which he deserves a lot of credit for.

And to say he stepped in at short notice, Lopez is a good opponent for Ortiz. Lopez lost a split decision in his most recent fight against Jesse Vargas, however many people thought Lopez deserved the 'W' in that fight.

I'm predicting Ortiz to stop Lopez in the later rounds of this fight, I think Lopez will steal one or two of the early rounds, but I expect Ortiz's size and power to be too much for Lopez in the championship rounds.

There is the possibility that Ortiz is looking past Lopez and instead thinking about his September fight with Saul Alvarez, this would be a dangerous thing to do because if Ortiz isn't 100% focussed on tonight's fight with Lopez, then we could see an upset in the Staples Centre, Los Angeles, California.
